SUMMARY:'Leven Returns to Annisquam
DESCRIPTION:The Annisquam Village Church presents 'LEVEN In Gratitude: Songs of gratitude for the joys and challenges of living upon the magnificent earth"... Sunday\, November 17 at 7:30 PM. \n\n\n\n'LEVEN is an enduring a cappella ensemble of Cape Ann Women's voices founded in 1991\, in the eleventh month\, at 1111 Washington Street in Gloucester\, under the 'leavening' influence of founding director\, Dawn Pratson and ten similarly enlightened Cape Ann women. (Pratson also founded Dancers Courageous in the '90s with Carl Thomsen). In the ensuing 28 years\, various combinations of singers have continued to bring powerful\, poignant\, and eclectic repertoire to the Cape Ann Community. Kristina Martin now takes the tradition forward with Sue Bonior\, Pat Maloney Brown\, Caroline Haines\, Ann Hyde\, and Sheryl Reed. Martin is Choral Director at the Waring School\, Assistant Choral Director at First Congregational Church in Rockport\, and Choral Director of the Annisquam Village Players\, among her many creative roles in evidence on Cape Ann and beyond.\n\nTo the delight of present-day 'Leven singers\, Dawn Pratson returns to perform with her successors in their fall concert.\n\n\n\nThe recently renovated Annisquam Village Church stands at the head of Lobster Cove at 820 Washington Street in Gloucester. The antique beauty and resonant acoustics of this historic 1830's building creates an intimate music venue that has attracted many world-class musicians. A reception in the Cove Room\, which has also undergone renovations\, follows the concert. \n\n\n\nAdmission at the door is $20. / $15. Seniors and Students -- or order On-line: levenconcert.brownpapertickets.com. \n\nInformation at 978.281-0376
