There's a hidden gem in Beverly, MA: The Larcom theatre, which opened as a vaudeville house in 1912 (the same year as Fenway Park) under the slogan "Lit Completely by Electricity". The Larcom Theatre has been completely restored and will come alive with music once again beginning with a new music series that starts October 5 when Gloucester legend Allen Estes takes the stage for one night only with his new, 6 piece all-star band. Allen Estes's award-winning songs have been recorded by Tammy Wynette, Shania Twain, Dave Mallett, Tom Wopat and The Judds. Allen also wrote "Where'd They Go" (the official song of the City of Gloucester) and songs for "The Souls of the Sea" musical. Earlier this month, Allen was filmed singing one of his most popular songs, "Not With Ya Hands", for next season's Wicked Tuna TV show. This is a rare chance to see Allen Estes with a six-piece, all-star band featuring multi-platinum guitarist David Brown along with Fairport Convention founder Dave Mattacks on drums, Matt Leavenworth on fiddle, Steve Burke on keyboards and Wolf Ginandes on bass.
