Description
A celebration of the Gloucester Small Business Person of the Year- Bob Gillis of Cape Ann Savings Bank, Retired.
Congratulations Bob!
Bob Gillis
Gloucester Small Businessperson of the Year
Gloucester, 2021
Bob Gillis joined the Cape Ann Savings Bank in October of 1975. He was a retail lender for many years and then joined the Commercial Loan Department as a business lender. Over the span of his career, Bob had many promotions, including being promoted to Senior Vice President, and Executive Vice President. In January of 2017 Bob was promoted to Bank President. Bob was elected as a Corporator of the Cape Ann Savings Bank in 1990 and as a Trustee of the Bank in 1996. Bob has recently retired, as of July 30, 2021, leaving behind an impressive forty five and a half years of service to Cape Ann Savings Bank.
Bob is very devoted to the Cape Ann community, serving as board President of Harborlight Community Partners, a non-profit affordable housing organization and is a board member of the Gloucester Fishing Community Preservation Fund. He is also a member and past president of the Rockport Rotary Club and a member and past president of the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce. In addition, Bob volunteers with other Cape Ann Savings Bank employees, delivering groceries to clients of the Open Door and is a Tri-Chair of the Gloucester 400th Committee, alongside Ruth Pino and Bruce Tobey. Bob may have retired from Cape Ann Savings Bank but surely has not retired from the Cape Ann Community!
In his “newly found” and “genuinely earned” free time, Bob is enjoying his retirement with his wife Pixie, spending time relaxing at Good Harbor Beach, going on hikes and supporting Pixie as she completes her task of running a marathon in every state in the U.S.
