SML Proofreading is a copyediting and proofreading service which officially began in 2019, though I think I came out of the womb discovering errors in print without even trying. Some of the work done by SML Proofreading includes memoir, satire, journal, young adult horror, young adult fantasy, health/humor, local history. Menus, brochures, and newsletters are welcome! Editing is done mostly using "track changes" in Microsoft Word documents. Editing is done with an eye to spelling, grammar, and punctuation but also includes syntax, capitalization, consistency, numbers, and more. Check out my book Proof or Consequences! A Humorous Look at Typos, Misspellings, Wrong Words, and Misplaced Punctuation which is a collection of mostly newspaper clippings amassed over about 45 years (yes, I started clipping at a young age!) and in which there are issues involving any of the aforementioned errors (typos, etc.), rendering laughable results. This book gives you an idea of the kind of mistakes I pick up on—and gets you laughing at the same time.
