Author and celebrated cartoonist Denis Kitchen delves deep into the details of Harrison Cady’s brilliant magazine illustrations in this illustrated talk. Reserve online or call 978-283-0455 x10. Denis Kitchen wears many hats in the comics industry. He's a cartoonist who formed a publishing company, Kitchen Sink Press, which published countless famous cartoonists including Harvey Kurtzman, Will Eisner, Robert Crumb, Al Capp and Milton Caniff, and writers Neil Gaiman and Alan Moore. He has co-authored several books and biographies: The Art of Harvey Kurtzman (Abrams, 2009), Al Capp: A Life to the Contrary (Bloomsbury, 2013), Underground Classics (Abrams, 2009), and the forthcoming Madness in Crowds: The Teeming Mind of Harrison Cady (Beehive Books, 2019). In 1986 he founded the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit devoted to First Amendment rights. A monograph of his own work, The Oddly Compelling Art of Denis Kitchen, was published by Dark Horse Books in 2010. He has received numerous awards, including first ballot inclusion in the Will Eisner Hall of Fame.
