Public programs are free. Heavy rain cancels. Parking fees $5 Mass license plates and $20 other state license plates.  An adult must accompany children. Saturday, April 25
Celebrate Earth Day with Live Vernal Pond Animals!!!
11:30 am—1:00 pm.  Meet at Visitor Center.  For all ages and abilities.
Live frogs, turtles, and salamanders will visit Halibut Point State Park with Cape Ann Vernal Pond Team.  Drop-in and get up close to these animals and learn about them, their behaviors, and habitats.  Co-sponsored with Friends of Halibut Point State Park.  Heavy rain cancels.

Spring Botanical Stroll

10:30 am—12:30 pm.  Meet at Visitor Center.  For ages 12 and up.
Stroll our seaside treasure with spring plant ID basics and beyond!  Short, slow walk with stops for identification and inspection of Spring’s awakening wonders.  For those new at plant ID, but all interests are welcome!  Heavy rain cancels.

Spring Birding Walk—Symphony of Bird Song!

8:00 am—10:00 am.  Meet at parking area.  For all ages.
Hear the symphony of spring bird song!  Join us for a one-mile leisurely morning walk.  Watch for birds at the field, woodland, and ocean edges.  Learn about their sounds, habits, and flight patterns.  Enjoy extraordinary views.  Bring your binoculars.  Heavy rain cancels.

When Granite was King!  
Babson Farm Quarrying History Guided Walking Tour

10:00 am—11:00 am.  Meet at Park entrance.  For ages 8+. 

One hundred years ago, the Rockport Granite Company quarried granite stone here. Walk our wide, gravel trails ½ mile around the quarry and learn about the buildings, bridges, and breakwaters built to last.  Touch tools of the trade.  Find out how they moved these large, heavy stone pieces, and how they “paved” dirt streets in our new Nation’s growing cities—and around the world!  Heavy rain cancels.
